Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
As you arrive to the International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will be there to greet you and transfer you to a hotel. At the hotel, you will be welcomed and then the 15-day program will be discussed in brief. Afterwards, you can rest or just walk around if there is enough time. You will stay in the hotel during the night.
Day 02: Preparing with Equipment and permit. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara by tourist bus. 6 hours. Overnight at Hotel.
On this day, we will start our trip by heading towards our destination. We will be going to Pokhara by a tourist bus. It will take six hours to reach there. Pokhara is a beautiful valley full of lakes and mountain views. You can visit the nearby Phewa lake and walk around beside the lake.
Day 04: Pokhara - Jomsom (2720m) - Kagbeni (2800m). Overnight at Guest House.
After having breakfast, we will have a morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, the headquarter of Mustang. The flight will take about 20 minutes that will pass quickly while you are busy enjoying the view of mountains like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. From Jomsom, we will start our trekking by having a short walk to Kagbeni. It will be a 3 hours walk, just a warmup for longer treks in coming days.
Day 05: Kagbeni - Chele (3050m). 5.5 hours. Overnight at Home Stay.
On this day, we will have a longer trek, for almost six hours along the sandy riverbanks of Kaligandaki to reach Chele. On the way, we will be passing along traditional houses and fields of wheat, barley and apple orchards through the villages of Tangbe and Choesang. After we reach Chele, at an altitude of 2050 meters.
Day 06: Trek to Geling (3500m). 6 hours. Overnight at Home Stay.
We will continue our journey towards Lo Manthang. Today we are trekking for six hours from Kagbeni to Geiling. Geiling is a small village situated at an altitude of 3500 meters. This village has a colorful Chorten, a mound-like stupa at its center.
Day 07: Trek to Tsarang (3620m). 5:30 hours. Overnight at Home Stay.
On the sixth day, we will reach Tsarang after trekking for 5.5 hours. We will pass through the maize fields along the houses made of stones. There is a stupa and a huge gompa built against a small hill. It is said that several hundreds of monks used to stay and pray in this gompa. Now there are fewer than 50 monks.
Day 08: Trek to Lo Manthang (3840m). 4 hours. Overnight at Home Stay.
We will be reaching our ultimate destination, Lo Manthang on the seventh day. At an altitude of 3840 meters, Lo Manthang is called the capital of the Forbidden Kingdom. It was founded more than 500 years ago and has changed very little since then.
Day 09: A day at Lo Manthang
Lo Manthang, once the capital of the Kingdom of Lo now houses more than 1200 people. There are about 150 houses connected by narrow alleys, and there are several monasteries and a big palace. There is a high L shaped wall about 300 meters long used historically as a shield against enemies and wind. We will spend this whole day exploring Lo Manthang.
Day 10: Trek to Ghami (3545m). 5:30 hours. Overnight at Home Stay.
After spending a day in Lo Manthang, we will start to descend back on the 9th day. But we will take a different route and reach Ghami. It will take about five and half hours to reach the village at 3545 meters elevation. Ghami is the third largest village in Lo region. It is surrounded by fields, mostly barren. A
Day 11: Trek to Samar (3356m). 6 hours. Overnight at Home Stay.
From Ghami, we walk further down-hill for about six hours. At the end of today’s trekking, we will reach Samar village. It is a village of Gurung community at an elevation of 3356 meters. There is a newly constructed monastery in this village which is worth visiting.
Day 12: Trek to Kagbeni. 6 hours. Overnight at Guest House.
Completing the round trip, we will get back to Kagbeni on the 11th day. It will be a 6-hour walk from Samar village and during this time we will be descending about 600 meters from Samar (3356m) to Kagbeni (2800m).
Day 13: Trek to Jomsom. 3 hours. Overnight at Guest House.
This day will mark the end of our trekking as we will be getting back to Jomsom. It will take just about three hours. For the rest of the day, you can enjoy walking to the nearby areas. There is internet/email facility in Jomsom, so you can get in contact with your dear ones.
Day 14: Fly to Pokhara. Overnight at Hotel.
Again, a 20-minute flight with the beautiful view of mountains will take you back to Pokhara. This day, you will get more time to walk around the beautiful places in Pokhara. A single day in Pokhara is not enough but you will certainly want to make the most out of it. There are numerous gifts, textile and handicraft shops you may like to visit.
Day 15: Drive Back to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.
A six-hour drive will take you back to the capital city, Kathmandu. This will be your last day of the trip. If there is enough time, you can visit the nearby places and finish some last day shopping.
Day 16: Transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport
Finally, the time comes to bid you a farewell with the hope to see you again. You will be transferred to the international airport for your onward destination. The 15-day program comes to an end. |
