Bhutan Paro Festival Tour
Bhutan, the “Land of Thunder Dragon” and one of the most religious countries, is inviting you to experience their celebration of Paro Tsechu, the biggest masked dance festival of the year. We offer incredible visit of Thimphu (capital city of Bhutan), Wangdue Phodrang and Punakha along with cultural heartland of Bumthang, Phobjikha and Tronga where you can visit large and impressive Trongsa Dzong (largest fortress/monastery).
We let you join with locals who come to the festival with their colorful fancy costumes. You will feel happy and glad dancing and singing along with them. You will also get the opportunity to watch beautiful mountain sceneries, travel along rice paddies fields and make the adventurous visit of centuries old monasteries and temples. We have designed this trip carefully so that everyone can enjoy the great experience probably never experienced before. We try to provide the best hotels and lodges for which we believe that there will be no complaints. The tour leader is also an experienced, knowledgeable and fluent English-speaking Bhutanese person. So we ensure that you will have a lot of fun during the trip.
Day 01 Our team leader will receive you at the International Airport. After brief introduction you will be transferred to a rated hotel in Thimphu. In the hotel, you will be informed briefly about the trip and the route.
Day 02- Thimphu Sightseeing With the rise of the sun you will be having alluring view of memorial chorten where locals will be praying. After the prayers, we will move to Sangaygang view point of Thimphu where we can see aircrafts flying just nearby. On the way, we stop at Takin Sanctuary and have a look at traditional art school called Zilukha Nunnery. To explore the use of traditional medicine and method of treatment, we spend some time there in Indigenous Hospital. After visiting religious, artistic and medical places we make visit of National Library. After lunch, we go to textile Museum, handicraft workshops, traditional paper making houses and other sites as per available time. During the night, we will stay at Hotel River View or Jumolhari Hotel.
Day 03 Thimphu - Punakha We start our morning with the eye catching views of glacier and high mountains while driving east across Dochula pass. Chimi Lhakhang temple is on the way to Punakha. Finally we will reach to Punakha Dzong, located on confluence of Pho and Mo Chhu river along with capturing beauty of rice paddies and small village aside. The overnight stay will be arranged at Hotel Moriphensum resort.
Day 04 Punakha - Gangtey - Trongsa Today our destination will be Trongsa via Gangtey. We reach to Gangtey passing all those beautiful black mountains. Here in Gangtey, sometimes we can see endangered species of black-necked cranes. Then we drive into Trongsa through Pele la pass. At dusk, you will be hanging out with your companions around Trongsa town. The day will end at either hotel Yankhil Resort or Phenzhe Resort.
Day 05 Trongsa - Jakar After breakfast, we visit to Trongsa Choekhor Dzong - one of the largest fortresses in Bhutan. Then we drive to Chumey through Youtong La pass. Chumey is a village popular for woven textiles. We can see the whole weaving process. We can also talk to the locals and grab opportunity to look closely at their cultures. We will have lunch at Jakar and then visit Jakar Dzong. We will take a walk downwards to the town area while observing the ancient houses of Bhutan. The day ends for today at Mountain Lodge or Milpham Lodge with hope of having even greater experience tomorrow.
Day 06 Jakar(Bumthang) Today our visit is all about the cultural heartland of Bumthang, the spiritual center full of old temples, shrines and monasteries. There is a Swiss farm where you can taste delicious milk products. By the time of sunset, we will have special visit to know more about Buddhism by visiting Kharchu Dratshang Monastery. The accommodation is available at the same hotel as yesterday.
Day 07 Jakar- Wangdi Phodrang In the early morning, we drive to Wangdi Phodrang through Youtong La pass and Pele La pass while observing eye appealing views of mountains and then taking an easy walk through the tropical forest. After reaching to Wangdi Phodrang we will take rest near a river and the night will end in a recommended hotel, either in Punatsangchu resort or Dragon resort.
Day 08 Wangdi Phodrang - Thimphu - Paro With the cackling of birds and rise of the sun, the day starts and today is an important day of our trip. We will drive to Paro via Thimphu which will take about four hours. After lunch we will reach the venue where the Paro Festival is celebrated. The locals will be celebrating in their fancy cultural costumes performing their local dances. This will be the second day of Paro Tsechu festival, the largest masked dance festival which is performed by monks as well as laymen. After having great experience of paro Tsechu, we will be visiting ancient Kichu temple which has a great importance in the Bhutanese society. We will spend night either in Tandinling Resort or in Gangtey palace.
Day 09 Paro Festival Today is the last day of the cultural, spiritual and mesmerizing experience of Bhutan. In early morning we will be gathered for watching third day of Paro festival and can have pleasure of snapping the moments on cameras. We can see everyone enjoying the fest by wearing valuable customs. We can have food out there and can mingle with the local celebrations. We can buy souvenir for our relatives or friends. And the night will turn into morning at the same Hotel where we had spent the yesterday’s night.
Day 10 Departure Today is the final day of our trip for this time. You will be flying back to your home town. Our team will drop you to the Airport but if you want to attend the fourth day of Paro festival, you can join in the early morning before your flight.
