Bhutan Paro Valley Tour
Paro was the first stop of Guru Rimpoche in the struggle of getting the Holy land back from the Tibet to Bhutan over one thousand years ago. According to the Buddhist legacy, Guru Rimpoche is said to have arrived on the back of a tigress and meditated at a monastery overlooking Paro valley. Now, that monastery is holy land for Bhutanese pilgrims who travel from all over the country to pray at its temple. Tourists are usually not allowed to enter into the temple but they can have a fine look out onto Tiger’s Nest after climbing the mountain trail. The trail from the road takes about three hours to climb and one and half hour to come down. People who are unable to climb the mountain can use ponies that are able to go at the place faster. There are good places where you are provided with well-earned tea and snacks. You can have a look at the Drugyel Dzory (Victorious Fortress) which is as old as the monastery. It is 18 km from Paro town on the southern side of the valley. Buildings erected for military force reveal the story of Bhutanese army who chased away Tibetan enemy during the 17th century.
