  • Everest Base Camp Trekking

If you’re looking forward to spending a fortnight at the most adventurous places on earth, we and our team recommend you to set out on a Trek to Everest Base Camp. After the first expedition to Mount Everest in 1953, this trail has been the choice of trekkers and mountaineers. The route reveals some of the breathtaking scenery of the mountainous region in Nepal.

After a scenic mountain flight to Lukla (a small tiny airstrip) from Kathmandu, your journey on foot to the Everest Base Camp begins. Monasteries keep welcoming you almost at every footsteps. Walking on the trails at the feet to the top of the world itself is a pride that keeps you moving on. The rhododendron forest and cool breeze of mountain air will allure you time and again. Every drop of sweat makes you feel even more fresh and victorious because the whole journey is going to create a lifetime memory. Not only that, lodges with Sherpa hosts provide you with enough comforts and delicious food to make sure that the next day shall start with the same energy and excitement. Every step in this trek is the mixture of adventure and comfort. We assure you that when you return, you will have an unimaginable experience, thrilling memories as well as the warmth of hospitality poured by the dwellers in the foot of the Himalayas. Sherpa culture, reflection of Tibetan and Nepali traditions, simplicity and lifestyle of the people are some of the added aspects you get to see during the journey.

Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mount Everest, panoramic view from the Syangboche, Tengboche Monastery, Everest Base Camp exercusion, view of Mt Everest and Lhotse from Kalapathar and the cultural prosperity of the Sherpa people are enough to make this trip alluring.

    Q. When do i visit Nepal?
Ans - Nepal is governed by the Southerly Monsoon weather system which brings heavy precipitation between the months of June and September, i.e. it rains a lot. Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) are the best time to visit Nepal.

    Q. Can i do a trek in Nepal?
Ans - Previous trekking and mountaineering experience is not necessary to do a trekking in nepal. If you are reasonably fit and enjoy walking, you can do any trek in Nepal. Normally the shorter treks tend to be easier whilst the longer ones often require a better standard of fitness.

    Q. Where do i stay and sleep during the trek?
Ans - You stay either guest house or tent during the trek. The most popular trekking areas like Annapurna, Everest and Langtang provide best sleeping accommodation. You stay and sleep in tent, if you go restricted areas like Dolpo, Upper Mustang, Manaslu etc.

    Q. Are the foods and water safe to eat and drink during the trek?
Ans - Yes, the foods are eatable and water is safe to drink during the trekking. All meals are prepared to high standards, fruit and vegetables are soaked in iodine before preparation. Most lodges serve boiled and filtered water, which is generally safe to drink, we suggest a drop of iodine to be totally sure.

    Q. What is Altitude Sickness?
Ans - Altitude Sickness is also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (A.M.S.). It may occur when people ascend too quickly. The symptoms of AMS can be seen in our body after 2800m. Headache, shortness of breath and possibly light headed are fairly common. Acute mountain sickness is very different and normally involves a severe headache, sickness and loss of awareness. Descending to a lower altitude will generally be enough to prevent any further problems. HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) and HACE (High Altitude Cardio Edema) are the major symptoms of altitude sickness.

In November of 2009 I made a trek to Mount Everest base camp with 2 of my friends. We were fortunate enough to have Ram Adhikari as our guide. Ram and his two Sherpa's were amazing. They were obviously veterans of the trekking industry and we never had to worry about anything. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu until we left, our every need was taken care of. Ram was extremely knowledgeable of all aspects of our journey. He seemed to have an ability to know when we were tired and needed a rest. He knew the pace that we were capable of maintaining and was always watching what we did and how we were doing. He told us what to expect each day on our journey and was able to answer all questions about the region and the culture. I never once was concerned about our safety. I'd highly recommend Ram to anyone visiting Nepal as someone who will take care of your needs.

In 2006 we fulfilled a lifetime ambition of visiting the wonderful kingdom of Nepal and seeing Mt Everest. As we were not experienced trekkers, we were a little unsure on exactly which trek would be suitable for us with the time we had available. Ram and his experienced team helped us with all the planning and tailor made a holiday that was truly unforgettable. As we were travelling independently, we were able to modify the plan as we went along. We opted to stay in tea houses and thoroughly enjoyed sharing our stories with fellow travellers by the fire at the end of a long day, while enjoying traditional Nepalese food. Booking over the internet was a breeze. All accommodation, internal flights, entry passes and meals were included in the price. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu to the day we left, Ram always made us feel like we were his number 1 priority. The mountains, monasteries, people, culture, food together with Ram's knowledge and experience has inspired us to visit this wonderful part of the world again.
